1. What this page covers

This page explains how to request deletion of your Crisis Literaria account (package com.estebanruano.crisisliteraria), published by Esteban Ruano from Bogotá D.C., Colombia.

The account is the same on Android and iOS — both talk to the same server — so deleting it ends access on every platform and every device you signed in on.

Deletion is free, does not require having the app installed, and does not require a reason.

2. How to request deletion

The app does not yet include an in-product delete button. Requests are handled by email:

  1. Email contact@estebanruano.com from the same address you registered with in Crisis Literaria.
  2. Use the subject: Delete account — Crisis Literaria.
  3. State the account email. Never send your password.
  4. If you write from a different address, you will be asked to verify your identity (for example, confirming from the registered address) before anything is deleted.
  5. You will get written confirmation once the account has been deleted.

Write the request

If you act on someone else's behalf, attach proof of representation. Without it, a third party cannot request deletion of another person's account.

3. What is deleted

Once the request is carried out, the following is permanently deleted from the application server:

  • Account and profile: name, email, password (stored hashed, never in clear text), birthday if you provided one, and your profile-visibility preferences.
  • Reading-circle membership: memberships, roles, and participation in periods and book picks.
  • Reading activity: progress, folios, and books tied to your account in the app.
  • Content you created: discussion posts, reviews, and answers to reading prompts.
  • Push notification tokens and the device registrations tied to your account.
  • Active sessions and refresh tokens, so no device stays signed in.

Where one of your messages is needed for a circle's conversation to still make sense to the other people in it, it is detached from your account and no longer shows your name, rather than being kept identified.

4. What is retained, for how long, and why

  • Technical and security logs (IP address, access time, errors): up to ninety (90) days, to operate and protect the service against abuse. They are not used to rebuild your account.
  • Backups: copies that existed at deletion time rotate out and are overwritten within thirty (30) days. In the meantime they are not used to restore your account, except in an incident that forces a full-system restore.
  • A record of the request itself (address, date, action taken): kept as evidence that the request was handled, under Law 1581 of 2012 and Decree 1074 of 2015.
  • Aggregated or anonymous data that can no longer identify you (for example, how many people read a book in a period).
  • Anything that must be kept to meet a legal duty or answer a competent authority, for no longer than that duty requires.

5. Timing

  • The request is acknowledged and answered within ten (10) business days, per article 14 of Law 1581 of 2012.
  • Deletion is carried out no later than thirty (30) calendar days after your identity is verified.
  • Backups finish being overwritten within thirty (30) days of the deletion.

Deletion is final: the account, reading progress, and content cannot be recovered afterwards. Coming back to the app means registering again.

6. Alternatives to deleting the whole account

To reduce what is processed without closing the account, you can ask for any of these through the same channel:

  • Leave a reading circle and keep the account.
  • Delete a single post, review, or answer.
  • Correct or update your name, email, or birthday.
  • Stop push notifications, by turning them off in the system or asking for your device tokens to be deleted.

7. Data left on your device

The app stores your session, your settings, and cached covers on the device. That is not on the server and is removed by uninstalling the app or clearing its data from system settings.

8. Contact and complaints

Data controller: Esteban Ruano, Bogotá D.C., Colombia. Email: contact@estebanruano.com.

The full description of processing is in the privacy policy, published at https://estebanruano.com/privacy.

If you believe the request was not handled properly, you may complain to Colombia's Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC).
